Apple AirPods 5 bring Active Noise Cancellation to an open-ear design, with Adaptive Audio, Personalized Spatial Audio, Live Translation and IP57 resistance.

Apple AirPods 5 keep the open-ear shape that sits lightly in the ear with no silicone tip, and add Active Noise Cancellation that removes up to 50 percent more external noise than AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation. A multiport acoustic architecture and improved computational audio make this possible without sealing the ear.

When you need to hear what is around you, Transparency mode represents voices and nearby sounds more naturally. Adaptive Audio blends Transparency and noise cancelling on its own as your surroundings change, and Conversation Awareness lowers your media volume as soon as you start speaking to someone.

Sound comes from a custom high-excursion Apple driver and a custom high dynamic range amplifier, tuned in real time by Adaptive EQ across a wide range of ear shapes. Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking places music and films around you, and a vent system equalizes pressure for comfort.

Everything runs on the Apple H2 headphone chip. On calls, Voice Isolation and dual beamforming microphones keep your voice clear over background noise, and studio-quality audio recording lets you capture voice memos and videos with clean sound.

With an Apple Intelligence-supported iPhone, Live Translation helps you follow a conversation in another language. Start it by pressing both stems at the same time or by asking Siri. With Siri Interactions, you can nod yes or shake your head no to answer a call or reply to a message without saying a word.

Controls sit on a force sensor in each stem: press once to play or pause, twice to skip forward, three times to skip back, and press and hold to switch listening modes. The Wireless Charging Case model adds volume swipe, so you swipe up or down on the stem to change volume.

With Active Noise Cancellation on, the USB-C Charging Case model gives up to 4 hours per charge and 20 hours in total. The Wireless Charging Case model gives up to 5 hours and 22 hours, and also charges on an Apple Watch charger or any Qi-certified charger. Five minutes in the case gives around one hour of listening.

The earbuds are rated IP57 for dust, sweat and water resistance, so workouts and rain are covered. Each earbud weighs 4.3 grams, and the Wireless Charging Case includes a speaker for Find My, so you can locate it when it is misplaced. Choose the charging case you want from the product options.
